Seahawks get explosive playmaker back after rookie season cut short by injury

The Seattle Seahawks have gotten a significant boost on offense as wide receiver Tory Horton has been fully cleared for training camp. Horton, whose debut season was abruptly halted by a shin injury, is now back on the field and already turning heads with his speed and route running.

Horton was a promising undrafted free agent out of Colorado State, where he built a reputation as a big-play threat. His rookie campaign, however, never really got off the ground. The shin issue sidelined him early, and he spent most of the year on the sidelines watching rather than contributing. Now, with a clean bill of health, he is making up for lost time.

During the first few days of camp, Horton has been running with the second-team offense but has flashed the kind of explosiveness that made him a standout in college. Coaches have noted his crisp cuts and ability to create separation, which is exactly what the Seahawks need in a crowded receiver room. With DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett leading the depth chart, Horton is fighting for a roster spot as a depth piece and potential return specialist.

His return adds another layer of competition to a group that also includes Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Dareke Young. Horton's versatility could give him an edge, especially if he can prove he can contribute on special teams. For now, he is just happy to be healthy and back in the mix.

"I feel great," Horton said after practice. "It was tough watching from the sideline, but I used that time to learn the playbook and get my body right. Now I am just trying to show what I can do."

The Seahawks will likely give Horton plenty of reps in the preseason to evaluate his progress. If he stays healthy, he could be a sneaky addition to the final 53-man roster. For a team looking to add more firepower on offense, his return is a welcome sight.
