Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center welcomes emergency medicine specialist Dr. Breanna Nowak

Dr. Breanna Nowak, a board-eligible emergency medicine physician, has officially joined the medical staff at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center. She expressed genuine excitement about starting her work in the emergency department, where she will care for patients across a wide range of urgent and critical conditions.

Nowak completed her medical degree at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Grand Forks. She then went on to finish her residency training in emergency medicine at the same institution, gaining hands-on experience in high-acuity settings. Her training focused on rapid assessment, trauma stabilization, and managing complex cases that require immediate intervention.

In her new role, Nowak will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of nurses, technicians, and fellow physicians to provide around-the-clock emergency care. She emphasized that she values clear communication with patients and their families, especially during stressful moments. Her approach centers on listening carefully, explaining treatment options plainly, and ensuring that every patient feels heard and respected.

The emergency department at St. Mary's handles everything from minor injuries to life-threatening emergencies. Nowak said she looks forward to the variety and unpredictability of the work, noting that each shift brings new challenges and opportunities to make a real difference. She also plans to participate in ongoing quality improvement initiatives within the department.

Nowak is accepting new patients and will see individuals who come through the emergency department. She is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. Her arrival strengthens the hospital's commitment to keeping a well-staffed, highly trained emergency team available for the community around the clock.
