LITTLE ROCK — The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Institute for Community Health Innovation is set to enhance the community health worker (CHW) workforce in Arkansas with the help of a $375,000 grant from the Arkansas Office of Skills Development Training Grant Program. This funding will enable UAMS to train 75 new community health workers, who play a crucial role in improving health outcomes and access to care in underserved populations.
The initiative aims to address various health disparities by equipping individuals with the necessary skills to support their communities effectively. Community health workers serve as vital links between healthcare providers and the communities they serve, helping to bridge gaps in health education, resources, and services.
Through this program, UAMS will collaborate with local organizations and stakeholders to ensure that the training is relevant and tailored to the specific needs of Arkansas communities. This effort reflects a commitment to fostering a healthier state by empowering individuals to take active roles in promoting wellness and preventive care.
