Researchers at Vanderbilt University Medical Center have secured a grant to develop an artificial intelligence agent that works directly inside the electronic health record system. The goal is to cut the time it takes for patients with Alzheimer's disease to get from diagnosis to treatment.

The new AI tool is designed to flag those gaps in real time. It will scan patient data, identify who is eligible for treatment, and then prompt clinicians at the point of care. This approach matters because Alzheimer's drugs work best when started early. Delays can mean missed windows for slowing cognitive decline.
